Harry Hess

History: During his time in the Navy in World War II, he decided to use the sounding equipment to study the seafloor. He found that molten rock where coming out of mid-oceanic ridges creating new seafloor that spread and eventually spreads and in to trenches. his work was later even improved when Vine and Matthews showed more evidence and their hypothesis of magnetic stripping which coincided with Hess's hypothesis.
